"...Brass Roots Trio is delightful!  It's amazing some of the sounds they achieve...very entertaining and inspirational."     Mark Hayes, Composer & Pianist

Inspirational Programs

From cathedrals in England, the Crystal Cathedral in California, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in NY to small country churches in the heartland of America, Brass Roots Trio has inspired and touched the hearts of listeners with their creative excellence and their ability to stir the emotions of their audiences.  These programs are a tapestry of gospel, jazz and contemporary sacred music woven together with scripture and poetry.   The music reflects the spirit of the readings and touches on an array of emotions.

          1.  "Reflections of Peace"

          2.  "American Vespers"

          3.  "Gabriel's Celestial Horns"

          4.  "40 Days" & "The Way of the Cross"

Please enjoy our music as you read about the programs below.

“If you can imagine Garrison Keillor meeting Aaron Copland on Bourbon Street, you begin to get a sense of “Reflections of Peace,” performed by Brass Roots Trio.  Taking traditional hymnody and re-spinning it in the genre of jazz Americana, the trio suspends the listener through the essence of time. Peace is not about the absence of war but the presence of love.  The Brass Roots Trio – three musicians whose love connection with music has the capacity to connect and heal the bonds of our humanity.”

- Jennifer Shepherd, The Living Church Magazine

An inspirational program of jazz and contemporary arrangements of hymns and spirituals interspersed with scripture and poetry.

Brass Roots Trio's recording of "Reflections of Peace" is featured in the April 2007 edition of Catholic Digest on their list of "20 Great Christian CDs."

Ev'ry Time I Feel the Spirit, On Eagle's Wings, Down by the Riverside, Be Thou My Vision, You Raise Me Up...and more!

"There is so much emphasis on fear today that is seems important in our remembering that we connect with the deepest source of all being and rest in the peace which passes all understanding.  Your music lifted us to that place...lively tempos, the syncopation of jazz and its rich harmonies surrounding old familiar tunes renew the old and make it new.  Behold, I make all things new, says the Lord, and indeed you have done just that.  As one person said, we knew it would be good but not THIS good!!  And so it was..."

The Rev. Virginia, Vicar, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Shelbyville, IN   stlukeshelby@sbcglobal.net

“This was one of the most powerful musical experiences to take place in our church - because it was a spiritual experience - full of hope, and a deep and profound longing for peace.  The enthusiasm of the audience spoke volumes and the sense of the Holy Spirit at work was palpable.”

Canon Donald C Macdonald,   St. Osmund's Church, Derby, UK    Donald.C.Macdonald@btopenworld.com

"The Brass Roots Trio exemplifies the best of the American Christian musical heritage.  The outstanding quality of their musicianship coupled with their innovative and moving arrangements makes The Brass Roots Trio a group we will ask back, many times!"

Rev. Roy A. Cole, Rector, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Yonkers, NY  frcole@spcy.org

"Reflections of Peace is a wonderful worship experience of music, scripture, and other readings.  But what makes it even better is the sheer joy that Rosetta, Travis, and Doug take in sharing their gifts with others!  We're hoping they come back again and again."

Rev. Tracy Spencer-Brown, Pastor, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Roswell, NM  Wpcroswell@aol.com

“One of our members said, “that wasn’t entertainment, it was worship!” I do not recall an evening of music, scripture, and prayer that was as moving as the one that the Brass Roots Trio shared with us.  The musical capabilities of the performers was only exceeded by the content of the program, “Reflections of Peace.”  People from the community are already asking when they will return and I, for one, can’t wait.”

Rev. Dr. Jon A. Fogle, Pastor, Friedens United Church of Christ, Oley, Pennsylvania, jandrfogle@comcast.net

"Joyous. Poignant. Inspiring. The Brass Roots Trio is all that and more. Their unique blend gives new life to traditional hymns and provides depth and meaning to contemporary ones...their music speaks to all ages and across the generations."

Talitha Arnold, Pastor, United Church of Santa Fe, Unitedsf@aol.com

“I’m still hearing about your wonderful music days after “The Brass Roots Trio” left First Presbyterian Church, Muncie.  The beauty, clarity and spirituality of your music was truly an inspiration. We are a moderately large church in a university setting with lots of musical groups performing here monthly.  I cannot remember a more enjoyable experience in our sanctuary.  It was a feast to be savored for a long time.  Come again soon!”
